Grounds Maintenance Technician

Pulaski County is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Technician that is responsible for the maintenance and mowing of all County owned properties while providing a safe and esthetic environment for our citizens. Must be able to operate mowers, edger’s, weed eaters, chain saws, trimmers, etc. Must possess a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver’s License and a Virginia Commercial Driver’s License with a Class A endorsement is preferred.

Building Maintenance Mechaninc III

Pulaski County is now accepting applications for a Building Maintenance Mechanic III. Applicant would be responsible for skilled work in the general maintenance, repair, modification and construction of County buildings and related equipment. Applicant must possess thorough knowledge of methods, materials, tools, safety procedures and equipment used in the performance of repairs. Performs rough plumbing and electrical work as assigned. Must be able to use hand powered equipment and hand tools.

Educational requirements include any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and extensive experience in skilled building maintenance work.

Facilities Manager

Responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of County buildings; interior and exterior; commercial and industrial. Performs/directs tasks requiring highly technical skills in the repair, maintenance and preventative maintenance of Pulaski County buildings and grounds; electrical, mechanical, HVAC and plumbing needs. Provides supervision and direction to subordinate employees.

High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by at least two of the following (preferred but not required): Commercial and/or Industrial building maintenance experience, certification from accredited trade or technical school in electricity, HVAC or related field, five years experience in commercial or industrial building maintenance, EPA Refrigerant Certification, and/or Associates Degree in mechanical, electrical, or construction management field.

Full-time position with benefits such as health, dental, optional vision, retirement, vacation, sick leave and paid holidays. Applicant must pass a criminal background check and drug test. Salary scale is $35,557 - $65,000 and is based upon education and experience.

Garage Mechanic

Pulaski County is seeking a qualified mechanic for the garage facility located in Dublin, Virginia. Applicant must possess knowledge of utilization of proper hand tools required to perform mechanical work on numerous fleet vehicles that includes but is not limited to: maintenance, diagnoses and repairs, air conditioning systems, specialized equipment, hydraulic, vacuum and electronic controls, precision instruments, gauges, wheel alignments, saws, grinders, drill presses, break lathes, welder, torches, computer diagnostic equipment, etc.

Possession of a valid Virginia driver’s license is required and possession of a Virginia State Inspectors License is preferred. Position may require some second shift and weekend work.

Applicants must have the ability to perform continuous heavy manual work in the collection and loading of residential solid waste. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a maximum of 100 pounds on a daily basis. Ability to step on and off back of refuse truck numerous times daily. Ability to routinely walk a minimum of two miles. Applicants must pass a drug and background check.

Juvenile Community Crime Control Program Assistant

Pulaski County is now accepting applications for a part-time Juvenile Community Crime Control Program Assistant. This position will assist with the oversight and management of the Juvenile Community Crime Control Program; implementing the Alternative Community Sentencing Program for at risk youth as received in the Court Service Unit.

Applicants shall possess excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills with attention to detail. Possess strong math and analytical skills for data comparisons and program compliance. Requires a minimum of High School Diploma or GED with strong math and analytical abilities. Flexible hours (some evenings and week-end work). Rate of pay is $11.00 per hour – approximately 15 hours per week.
