Randolph Park Seasonal Positions
The Pulaski County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking to fill the following part-time seasonal positions:
- Lifeguard
This position is responsible for ensuring patrons adhere to all rules and regulations of the water park facility while providing necessary lifesaving duties of CPR and first aid in emergency situations. Work hours are up to Forty (40) hours per week during the pool season of May through early September. Some overtime and evening work may be required. Applicant must be enrolled in school, be at least 15 years of age and certified in first aid, CPR and lifeguarding, employer provides certifications upon hire. Previous experience in an aquatic setting is preferred. The starting pay for this position is $16 per hour and is commensurate upon education and experience.
- Pool Attendant
This position is responsible for greeting patrons, collecting pool entry fees, counting fees, issuing arm bands, maintaining cleanliness of the facility and handling all other general patron inquiries. Work hours are up to Forty (40) hours/week during the pool season of May through early September. Some overtime and evening work may be required. Applicant must be at least 16 years of age and enrolled in high school. Previous experience working with the public is preferred. The starting pay for this position is $14 and is commensurate upon education and experience.
- Summer Camp Counselor
This positon is responsible for providing indoor and outdoor activities for a wide age range of children. The Randolph Park camp occurs five days per week, ten hours per day during the summer. Counselors must be highly qualified to supervise large groups of children ensuring campers safety, conducting activities, collecting camp fees, frequent cleaning, attending to minor and major injuries and parental inquiries. This position supervises other staff depending on assigned duties. Work hours are up to Forty (40) hours per week for approximately ten weeks. Some overtime and evening work may be required. Current enrollment in college or college graduate applicants are preferred, minimum educational requirement is current enrollment in high-school. Previous related experience working with children is preferred. First Aid and CPR is preferred and may be required based on level of responsibility. Preferred age is 18 years or above. The starting pay for this position is $15 per hour and is commensurate upon education and experience.
- Aquatics Supervisor
This position is responsible for the management of the Randolph Park outdoor pool that includes pool chemistry, equipment and maintenance, training and supervision of lifeguards, pool attendants, and other ancillary staff. The Aquatics Supervisor will also ensure all employees and patrons remain in compliance with park rules and regulations as well as overseeing the safety and security of the entire aquatics facility. This position supervises all aquatics staff. Work hours are up to Forty (40) hours/week during the pool season of May through early September. Some overtime and evening work may be required. The following certifications are required: Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or a certified Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO), First Aid and CPR. Previous aquatic facility experience is preferred. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years of age. The starting pay is $18 per hour and is commensurate upon education and experience.
- Summer Camp Supervisor
This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations, supervision, safety and compliance of park rules and regulations by parents, campers, and staff as well as maintaining and implementing programming for the camp. This position supervises camp counselors and ancillary staff. Work hours are up to Forty (40) hours/week during the summer season of May through early August. Some overtime and evening work may be required The applicant is preferred to have teacher licensure and/or certification, a Bachelor or Associates degree or actively enrolled in higher education. Must be certified in first aid, CPR and lifeguarding upon hire, employer provides certifications. Applicant must be at least 21 years of age. The starting pay is $18 per hour and is commensurate upon education and experience.

Environmental Services Technician
Pulaski County Environmental Services is seeking to fill a part-time Environmental Services Technician position. This position is responsible for performing routine cleaning/custodial and maintenance duties as required for all Pulaski County Buildings. Applicants must have some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment utilized. This position reports to the Environmental Services Supervisor.
Work hours are Monday to Friday, with 20-29 hours per week. The specific hours each day will be determined by the Environmental Services Supervisor. Some evening and weekend work required. The anticipated wage is $15.00 per hour and is commensurate upon education and experience.

911 Operations Manager
The Pulaski County Joint 9-1-1 is seeking to fill a full-time Operations Manager position. This position oversees the daily functions of the 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center in Pulaski County. This includes coordinating, planning, and managing various sections such as Police, Fire, EMS, and Call-Taking. The manager is responsible for supervisory and administrative tasks and ensuring the implementation of essential policies and procedures to safeguard the well-being of individuals and properties. Collaboration with different departments and stakeholders is crucial to enhance communication and response strategies. Key duties involve supervising staff, evaluating performance, and enhancing emergency communication processes continuously. This position supervises the Communications Supervisors and reports to Deputy Director.
Must be willing to work any shift assignment including mandatory holidays, weekends and overtime (Public Safety Dispatchers work a 12-hour shift in the Joint Communications Center). The salary scale for this position is $55,000 - $92,000 and is commensurate upon education and experience.
Educational Requirements: Ideal candidates for this role should have a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of five years of experience as an emergency dispatcher, or a suitable combination of experience and training to meet the necessary requirements. Four (4) years’ or more managerial experience is preferred. The ability to obtain VCIN/NCIC certification within six months of hire is essential, as is a comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local PSAP procedures and regulations. Candidates who hold a communications center manager certification, especially from NENA's CMCP course, and those with experience in a consolidated center are preferred. Furthermore, applicants should have a solid working knowledge and practical understanding of various emergency communications systems, including 9-1-1 phone systems, CAD systems, radio systems, GIS applications, and EMD, EFD, and EPD protocols. Maintaining a drug- and alcohol-free status, as well as possessing and upholding a valid Virginia driver's license with a good driving record, are also required. Additionally, candidates must possess and maintain valid certifications for the positions they supervise.

EMS Captain - Shift Supervisor
The Pulaski County Public Safety Department is seeking to fill a full-time EMS Captain – Shift Supervisor position. This position, in collaboration with other Command Staff, supervises and manages field EMS personnel, ensuring operational goals are met throughout each shift. Responsibilities include managing on-duty staff, coordinating resources, overseeing vehicle and equipment readiness, and responding to calls based on type and location. The Captain serves as the primary EMS point of contact during shifts, managing staffing and scheduling while adhering to Incident Command System (ICS) and Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) guidelines. This role also involves executing command functions, assisting in the orientation of new personnel, promoting staff development, and ensuring compliance with equipment checks. Teamwork and maintaining the cleanliness of facilities are emphasized, along with monitoring adherence to policies and resolving conflicts. The Captain will collect data for performance improvement, act as a liaison with the public and other agencies, support mentoring initiatives, and work towards achieving organizational goals set by leadership, while also fulfilling additional assigned duties to further the agency's mission. This position supervises Lieutenants, Field staff, and manages shift operations and reports to Director (EMS 1) / Assistant Director (EMS 2).
Work hours include 24-hour shifts requiring holidays and weekends. The salary scale for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 and is commensurate upon education and experience.
Educational Requirements: Applicant must be a certified paramedic by the Virginia Office of EMS, hold certifications in ICS 100, 200, 300, 700, 800, and become a cleared Field Training Officer within one year. Leadership and management training/experience is desirable, and certification as an agency-approved instructorship is preferred.

Community Paramedic
The Pulaski County Pulaski County Public Safety is seeking to fill a full-time Community Paramedic position. This position conducts medical outreach by performing in-home safety checks, providing community resource education, and implementing EMS call-reduction strategies for at-risk residents. Duties include conducting wellness checks, collaborating with community partners, educating healthcare facilities, and assisting with patient care. The role requires physical and emotional resilience, protective measures for potential hazards, and operating in various work environments. Overall, the Community Paramedic plays a vital role in promoting community health and safety. This position reports to Assistant Director.
Work hours are normally 40 hours Monday through Friday, and 24-hour shifts, holidays and weekends as scheduled. The salary scale for this position is $56,858 - $71,164 and is commensurate upon education and experience.
Educational Requirements: Applicant must possess High School Diploma or equivalent. An Associate’s Degree in a relevant field is preferred. Current National Registry and Virginia Paramedic certifications. Related experience including a minimum of 2 years as a paramedic. Prior Experience as a Community Paramedic preferred. Verified Training in a vetted Community Paramedicine Program (collegiate or another national auxiliary CPM program) preferred. Certification as an IBSC (International Board of Specialty Certification) Community Paramedic preferred. Able to maintain clearance to practice in the department as an EMS Field Staff Member – Paramedic.

Work Report Program Coordinator
The Pulaski County Drug Prevention and Recovery Department is seeking to fill a full-time Work Report Program Coordinator position. This position provides human support work in the care and direct supervision, counseling and rehabilitative services for Circuit Court non-violent offenders and their families. The Work Report Program Coordinator ensures compliance with the rules outlined through the court system and reports any problems and/or progress.
Applicant must possess a High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). A VCIN certification through the Commonwealth of Virginia or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of start date is required. A background in court system programs and management or equivalent experience is also preferred.
The salary scale for this position is $48,000 - $62,000 and is commensurate upon education and experience.

Office Services Assistant/Office Manager
The Pulaski County New River Community Corrections & Pretrial Services (NRCC&PTS) Department is seeking to fill a full-time Office Services Assistant/Office Manager position. The position requires the ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently in a busy and often high-stress atmosphere. Additionally, basic accounting skills, including creating purchase orders and managing credit card payments, as well as proficiency in computer skills are necessary. Operating office equipment such as phone systems, printers, and copy/fax machines are also part of the role. A key requirement for this position is utilizing the VCIN program to obtain criminal histories and disseminate them per VCIN mandates. Daily responsibilities include in-person and telephone interactions with the public, courts, county and state departments, other criminal justice agencies, and the Department of Criminal Justice (DCJS). Screening calls, recording messages accurately, and handling confidential information appropriately and promptly are essential tasks. Furthermore, entering screening and placement information into a DCJS records management system and maintaining detailed electronic and hard copy records related to referral information are vital components of the role.
An Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Human Resources, Paralegal, Business Administration and/or experience in a related field is preferred or a combination of education and experience may be considered. Employee must pass VCIN certification training and CORE training within specified timeframe. Employee must successfully complete training in and demonstrate competency in Effective Communication/Motivational Interviewing Skills, conducting risk assessments and other evidence-based practices curriculums. Note: training is provided regarding certifications and CORE, some afterhours and travel may be required.
Work hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30am – 4:30pm and Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Some overtime and evening work may be required. The salary scale for this position is $30,000 - $42,300 and is commensurate upon education and experience.

Deputy Clerk
The Pulaski County Circuit Court is seeking to fill a full-time Deputy Clerk position. As a full-time sworn position, deputy court clerks customarily: process legal documents; assist the public with technical, legal, and recording matters; process and issue marriage licenses & notary commissions; administer oaths; record & index real estate transactions; prepare legal papers; courtroom support; set up criminal & civil court files; prepare cases for appeal; data entry into Case Management System; set up payment plans; collect & receipt fees, maintain confidential and protected information; and other similar duties.

Wildfire Mitigation Module Member
Applications are being accepted for the position of a part-time Wildfire Mitigation Module Member. This position will carry out hazard fuel reduction projects through thinning, brush disposal and prescribed burning; participates in and presents public education programs; may respond to wildfire assignments as part of an organized crew; participates in training activities, station and equipment maintenance and performs other support and related duties. E911 Telecommunicator

Emergency Medical Services – Field Staff
The Pulaski County Public Safety Department is hiring full-time Emergency Medical Technicians, Advanced EMT's, and Paramedics.
Minimum qualifications include EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic Certification, and completion of a state approved EVOC course. Applicants must be insurable under the Existing County of Pulaski vehicle policy, which currently requires a minimum age of 18 and 1.5 years of driving experience with an acceptable driving record. A background screening and drug and alcohol test is also required.
Full-time staff work 48 hours per week with variable shifts including 24-hour shifts as needed. Salary is commensurate upon education, training and experience. A full benefit package, which includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, VRS retirement, optional 457b retirement plan, paid sick, vacation and holidays are included in this position. A $1,500 recruitment bonus (paid upon successful completion of a precepting program and orientation period) is also included. The employer covers uniform and training expenses.

PSA Deputy Director - Water/Wastewater

Deputy Sheriff
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department is hiring for a Deputy Sheriff position. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license. Prefer applicants with State Law Enforcement Certification and two years of college credits; however, selected non-certified LEO applicants will begin the academy in July 2024. Extensive background investigation and medical examination is required. Applicants must have 20/20 corrected vision and have proportionate height and weight. Preference will be given to applicants who are a resident of Pulaski County.
The anticipated salary for non-certified applicants is $49,000 based upon successful completion of the NRV Criminal Justice Training Academy and field training. Tenured LEO’s would receive additional pay based upon experience and years of service ranging from $52,000 - $60,000.
