The Chief of EMS will provide strategic, financial, and operational leadership for all EMS-related activities in the department, including prehospital care, policy development, mass casualty preparedness, personnel development, and education, while ensuring compliance with state and national standards. Educational Requirements: The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree or extensive comparable experience, along with Virginia EMS paramedic certification, EVOC, and a suitable driving record. They must hold ICS certifications (100, 200, 300, 700, 800) and have prior experience as a Virginia Education Coordinator and EMS instructor certifications. Ten years of EMS and supervisory experience is required. Extensive grant management experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office are also essential. The candidate should demonstrate strong problem-solving, leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, with comprehensive knowledge of EMS agency management—including budgeting, fleet management, radio systems, training, billing, risk assessment, procurement, and strategic planning.
