911 Operations Manager
The Pulaski County Joint 9-1-1 is seeking to fill a full-time Operations Manager position. This position oversees the daily functions of the 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center in Pulaski County, coordinating, planning, and managing various sections such as Police, Fire, EMS, and Call-Taking. The manager is responsible for supervisory and administrative tasks and ensuring the implementation of essential policies and procedures to safeguard the well-being of individuals and properties. Collaboration with different departments and stakeholders is crucial to enhance communication and response strategies. Key duties include supervising staff, evaluating performance, and continuously improving emergency communication processes. This position supervises the Communications Supervisors and reports to Deputy Director.
Must be willing to work any shift assignment including mandatory holidays, weekends and overtime (Public Safety Dispatchers work a 12-hour shift in the Joint Communications Center). The salary scale for this position is $65,000 - $112,200 and is commensurate upon education and experience.
Educational Requirements: Ideal candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of five years of experience as an emergency dispatcher or a suitable combination of experience and training to meet the necessary qualifications. Four (4) years or more of managerial experience is preferred. The ability to obtain VCIN/NCIC certification within six months of hire is essential, as is a comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local PSAP procedures and regulations. Candidates holding a communications center manager certification, especially from NENA's CMCP course, and those with experience in a consolidated center are preferred. Furthermore, applicants should possess a solid working knowledge and practical understanding of various emergency communications systems, including 9-1-1 phone systems, CAD systems, radio systems, GIS applications, and EMD, EFD, and EPD protocols. Maintaining a drug- and alcohol-free status, as well as possessing a valid Virginia driver's license with a good driving record, are also required. Additionally, candidates must possess and maintain valid certifications for the positions they supervise.

EMS Lieutenant
The Pulaski County Public Safety Department is seeking to fill a full-time EMS Shift Lieutenant position. This position manages station and equipment readiness, and coordinates emergency response efforts with Command Staff. They handle staffing, training, and operational issues. This role requires strong leadership, EMS system knowledge, effective communication, and safe vehicle operation, with a focus on safety, community service, and professionalism. This position supervises field staff and reports to EMS Captains.
Work hours are scheduled including 24-hour shifts, which may require holidays and weekends. The salary scale for this position is contingent upon the candidate's education, certifications, and experience.
Educational Requirements: Applicant must possess certification as an Advanced EMT or higher by the Virginia Office of EMS. Additional leadership or management training/experience is preferred, along with completion of an approved leadership/management training program.

Deputy Clerk I - Circuit Court
The Pulaski County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office is seeking to fill a full-time Deputy Clerk I position. This position provides essential clerical support within the Circuit Court, including greeting the public, answering phones, recording documents, issuing licenses, and processing filings. This position reports to Clerk of Circuit Court.
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Some overtime and evening work may be required. The salary scale for this position is $36,000 - $41,000 and is commensurate upon education and experience.
Educational Requirements: High School diploma (or equivalent) is required. An Associate’s Degree in Business, Legal Assistant/Paralegal, or related field is preferred.

Pretrial Officer
The New River Community Corrections & Pretrial Services is seeking to fill a full-time Pretrial Officer position. This position provides supervision to defendants released on bail while awaiting trial. Responsibilities include screening and interviewing defendants, conducting risk assessments, preparing release recommendations, and monitoring court-ordered conditions of bail. This position reports to Director of NRCC&PS.
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., with some overtime, early morning hours, or evening work required. Some overnight travel may be necessary. The salary scale for this position is $34,000 - $46,920 and is commensurate upon education and experience.
Educational Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, psychology, or a related field is preferred. Experience in case management, counseling, or a criminal justice agency is also preferred; a combination of education and experience may be considered. Employee must pass VCIN certification training and BASIC SKILLS within specified time frame. Must successfully complete training in and demonstrate competency in Effective Communication/Motivational Interviewing Skills, conducting risk assessments and other evidence-based practices curriculums.

Library Assistant Clerk
The Pulaski County Library is seeking to fill a part-time Assistant Clerk position. This position is responsible for performing paraprofessional duties of a routine nature in library public services work. Primary duties include providing assistance to the public; maintaining library materials; and assisting patrons with library computers and reference needs. This position reports to the Public Services Coordinator/Branch Manager.
Work hours are evenings and weekends, totaling 15 hours per week. The pay scale for this position is $13 - $18 per hour and is commensurate upon education and experience.
Educational Requirements: Applicant must possess a High School Diploma. College experience is preferred, especially with library experience or work experience in customer service and computer skills.

Library Circulation Assistant
Applications are now being accepted for a full-time Library Circulation Assistant with the Pulaski County Library System. The functions of this position include facilitating the public’s access to library services and materials by obtaining requested items, maintaining library materials, and assisting the public with library computers and reference needs. This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of general library work and reports to Library Director.
Typical hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Possible evenings and weekend work may be required as well as overnight travel. The salary scale for this position is $33,332 - $56,007 and is commensurate upon education and experience.
Educational Requirements: A two-year associate’s degree from an accredited college or the equivalent of one year of customer service experience is preferred; library experience and a four-year college degree are also preferred.

Wildfire Mitigation Module Member
Applications are being accepted for the position of a part-time Wildfire Mitigation Module Member. This position will carry out hazard fuel reduction projects through thinning, brush disposal and prescribed burning; participates in and presents public education programs; may respond to wildfire assignments as part of an organized crew; participates in training activities, station and equipment maintenance and performs other support and related duties. Non-exempt, part-time on call/seasonal position that is grant funded and driven by the workload and weather.

Line Services Technician - NRV Airport
The New River Valley Airport is seeking to fill a part-time Line Services Technician position. The primary responsibilities of this position include refueling aircraft, towing aircraft in and out of hangars, marshalling aircraft to designated parking spaces, processing sales, and responding to customer needs. This position reports to Airport Operations Manager.
Typical hours are Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 7 PM, and Saturday to Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Some overtime and evening work may be required, as well as on call duties. The hourly pay for this position is $15 - $18, commensurate with education and experience.
Educational Requirements: Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience operating around aircraft or with transportation or farm equipment is preferred.

Emergency Medical Services – Field Staff
The Pulaski County Public Safety Department is hiring full-time Emergency Medical Technicians, Advanced EMT's, and Paramedics.
Minimum qualifications include EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic Certification, and completion of a state approved EVOC course. Applicants must be insurable under the Existing County of Pulaski vehicle policy, which currently requires a minimum age of 18 and 1.5 years of driving experience with an acceptable driving record. A background screening and drug and alcohol test is also required.
Full-time staff work 48 hours per week with variable shifts including 24-hour shifts as needed. Salary is commensurate upon education, training and experience. A full benefit package, which includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, VRS retirement, optional 457b retirement plan, paid sick, vacation and holidays are included in this position. A $1,500 recruitment bonus (paid upon successful completion of a precepting program and orientation period) is also included. The employer covers uniform and training expenses.

Deputy Sheriff
The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department is hiring for a Deputy Sheriff position. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Virginia driver’s license. Preference will be given to applicants with State Law Enforcement Certification and two years of college credits; however, selected non-certified LEO applicants will begin the academy at a later scheduled time. An extensive background investigation and medical examination is required. Applicants must have 20/20 corrected vision and have proportionate height and weight.
The anticipated salary for non-certified applicants is $50,500 based upon successful completion of the NRV Criminal Justice Training Academy and field training. Tenured LEOs may receive additional pay based upon experience and years of service ranging from $51,500 - $61,900.
