Sanitation Worker

Applications are now being accepted for the position of Sanitation Worker I with the Pulaski County Public Service Authority. Applicants must have the ability to perform continuous heavy manual work in the collection and loading of residential solid waste. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a maximum of 75 pounds on a daily basis. Ability to step on and off back of refuse truck numerous times daily and the ability to routinely walk a minimum of two miles.

The salary scale for this position is $28,080 - $43,680 and is commensurate on education and experience. Animal Care Specialist

The Pulaski County Animal Shelter is accepting applications for a full-time Animal Care Specialist. This position performs routine semi-skilled custodial work involving the care and cleaning of the animal shelter and ensures that proper cleaning protocol is adhered to by all those participating in cleaning of kennels and cages. Applicants should have good knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.

This is a Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am until 4:00 pm position that may require some weekend work. The salary for this position is $29,120 annually with a potential increase to $31,200 after a successful six-month orientation period. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED. Experience working with animals is desirable. A background check and drug screen is required.

Library Assistant Clerk - Part Time

The Pulaski County Library is now accepting applications for a part-time Library Assistant Clerk. Primary duties include: performing paraprofessional duties of a routine nature in library public services work, assisting the public; maintaining library materials; and assisting the public with library computers and reference needs.

This is a part-time position of approximately 15 hours per week. Some evening and Saturday work may be required. The starting wage is $14.00 per hour.

Human Resources Assistant

Pulaski County is searching for an energetic, resourceful and experienced Human Resources Assistant who enjoys working in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department. The HR Assistant carries out various responsibilities that include job advertisements, data entry, reconciliation of accounts, maintaining electronic personnel files, etc.

A High School education is required and an Associate’s Degree in Business Management is preferred. General knowledge of human resource policies, employment and labor laws are required. Applicant must be detail oriented, able to work independently, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, data entry and accounting skills and possess extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Grounds Maintenance Technician

Pulaski County is seeking applicants for a Grounds Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for the maintenance and mowing of all county owned properties. Must be able to operate mowers, edgers, weed eaters, chain saws, trimmers, etc. A valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver’s License is required. A Virginia Commercial Driver’s License with a Class A endorsement is preferred but not required.

The salary scale for this position is $32,276 - $54,291 and is commensurate upon education and experience.

EMS Captain - Pharmacy Manager

The Pulaski County Public Safety Department is seeking to fill a full-time EMS Captain – Pharmacy Manager position. This position is a combination position incorporating managing the departments pharmacy, along with shifts serving in field roles to include Captain – EMS Supervisor and EMS Field Staff Member. As Pharmacy Manager, the Captain oversees the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy itself, and by extension the systems stocking, storage, and exchange of medications in field units. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2024.

The salary scale for this position is $59,736 - $73,299 and is commensurate upon education and experience.

Director - Department of Drug Prevention

Pulaski County is seeking to fill a full-time Director position for our Department of Drug Prevention. Utilizing Opioid Settlement Funds, Pulaski County is embarking upon a new program that will directly address the ongoing opioid crisis in our community. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to support the ongoing efforts to prevent drug abuse with specific focus on opioid abuse. The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department is hiring for a Courthouse Deputy Sheriff position. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license. E911 Telecommunicator

Emergency Medical Services – Field Staff

The Pulaski County Public Safety Department is hiring full-time Emergency Medical Technicians, Advanced EMT's, and Paramedics.

Minimum qualifications include EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic Certification, and completion of a state approved EVOC course. Applicants must be insurable under the Existing County of Pulaski vehicle policy, which currently requires a minimum age of 18 and 1.5 years of driving experience with an acceptable driving record. A background screening and drug and alcohol test is also required.

Full-time staff work 48 hours per week with variable shifts including 24-hour shifts as needed. Salary is commensurate upon education, training and experience. A full benefit package, which includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, VRS retirement, optional 457b retirement plan, paid sick, vacation and holidays are included in this position. A $1,500 recruitment bonus (paid upon successful completion of a precepting program and orientation period) is also included. The employer covers uniform and training expenses.

PSA Deputy Director - Water/Wastewater

The Pulaski County Public Service Authority is seeking to hire a Deputy Director that will oversee the Water/Wastewater Department. This position requires thorough knowledge of water/wastewater engineering and construction procedures, equipment used in the repair maintenance and construction of public works projects, ability to comprehend plans, specifications and detailed reports, supervisory experience, GIS experience, grant experience, etc.

Deputy Sheriff

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department is hiring for a Deputy Sheriff position. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license.
