Director of Finance

Pulaski County is hiring for the position of Director of Finance. This position is responsible for oversight of all county financial functions including the Board of Supervisors, Public Service Authority, Economic Development Authority, and the Department of Social Services. This individual works with the Treasurer, Commissioner of Revenue, School Board, staff, Compensation Board and various state and federal agencies to manage the financial, personnel and risk management aspects of County operations. The position requires complex professional work preparing and performing analyses, projections and review of all financial activities. These functions include monitoring and reviewing all departmental budgets in accordance with the County Administrator and various Board’s direction and to ensure the County meets all required standards of accounting. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, Master’s Degree and CPA preferred. Four (4) – Six (6) years of extensive experience in municipal finance required. Supervisory experience required.

The salary scale for this position is $88,533 – $142,552 and is commensurate upon education and experience. Library Youth Services Assistant - Part Time

The Pulaski County Library is now accepting applications for a Youth Services Assistant whose primary duties include the provision of library services to preschoolers, school-aged children, and young adults (teens); for example, preschool story times, programs and activities for the youth, and the Summer Reading Program. This position will work closely with the Youth Services Librarian, assisting her in providing services to the youth of the community. It will also include some library circulation duties. Must possess at minimum an Associate’s Degree; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred with library experience or work experience with children, parents, schools and daycare centers as well as knowledge of children’s literature. A background check as well as a drug and alcohol screening is required.

This position is part-time, requiring 25 hours per week with some evenings and weekends. The hourly pay will be $16/hour.

Wildfire Mitigation Crew Member

Applications are now being accepted for the position of a part-time Wildfire Mitigation Crew Member. This position will carry out hazard fuel reduction projects through thinning, brush disposal and prescribed burning; participates in and presents public education programs; may respond to wildfire assignments as part of an organized crew; participates in training activities, station and equipment maintenance and performs other support and related duties. Non-exempt, part-time on call/seasonal position that is grant funded and also driven by the workload and weather.

The hourly rate for the position is $15.00 per hour and is compensable upon education and experience. There are no benefits associated with this position.

Emergency Medical Services – Field Staff

The Pulaski County Public Safety Department is hiring full-time Emergency Medical Technicians, Advanced EMT's, and Paramedics.

Minimum qualifications include EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic Certification, and completion of a state approved EVOC course. Applicants must be insurable under the Existing County of Pulaski vehicle policy, which currently requires a minimum age of 18 and 1.5 years of driving experience with an acceptable driving record. A background screening and drug and alcohol test is also required.

Full-time staff work 48 hours per week with variable shifts including 24-hour shifts as needed. Salary is commensurate upon education, training and experience. A full benefit package, which includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, VRS retirement, optional 457b retirement plan, paid sick, vacation and holidays are included in this position. A $1,500 recruitment bonus (paid upon successful completion of a precepting program and orientation period) is also included. The employer covers uniform and training expenses.

Sanitation Worker

Applications are now being accepted for the position of Sanitation Worker I with the Pulaski County Public Service Authority. Applicants must have the ability to perform continuous heavy manual work in the collection and loading of residential solid waste. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a maximum of 75 pounds on a daily basis. Ability to step on and off back of refuse truck numerous times daily and the ability to routinely walk a minimum of two miles. Applicants must also pass a drug and alcohol and background check.

The salary scale for this position is $27,040 - $42,054 and is commensurate on education and experience. Grounds Maintenance Technician

Full-time position responsible for the maintenance and mowing of all County owned properties. Must be able to operate mowers, edgers, weed eaters, chain saws, trimmers, etc. A valid Virginia Driving Permit is required, a Virginia CDL License with a Class A endorsement is preferred but not required. PSA Deputy Director - Water/Wastewater

The Pulaski County Public Service Authority is seeking to hire a Deputy Director that will oversee the Water/Wastewater Department. This position requires thorough knowledge of water/wastewater engineering and construction procedures, equipment used in the repair maintenance and construction of public works projects, ability to comprehend plans, specifications and detailed reports, supervisory experience, GIS experience, grant experience, etc.

Applicant is required to have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of five year's experience and must have the ability to obtain a Professional Engineer's License in Virginia. PSA Water/Wastewater Service Technician

Applications are now being accepted for three (3) Water/Wastewater Service Technician positions. This position performs routine, semi-skilled and technical work in the installation, maintenance and repair of utility systems and pump stations, monitoring and repair and maintenance of flow meters, minor repairs to automotive and other equipment, inspects work performed by private contractors, inspects sewage facilities, manholes, valves, etc. Position also requires knowledge and compliance of regulatory and safety requirements.
